Carol Corbett Burris is the principal of the Rockville Centre's high school.
A commonly cited book on this controversial educational theory is "Detracking for Excellence and Equity", by Burris and Delia T. Garrity. According to the book's "about the authors" section, Ms Garrity is an assistant superintendant in the Rockville Centre school district. If you can find any independent research on this subject, please post.
One interesting quote to highlight, which cites the book written by the same district's own administration:
"Detracking met with minimal resistance
in grade 9, but when it moved into grade 10,
angry parents stormed a meeting of the board
of education to voice their concerns and opposition.
The board of education held fast, however,
and great care was taken to ensure that supports
for struggling students and enrichment for
high achievers were part of the new curriculum
(Burris & Garrity, 2008)."
