Harrison Town Hall, January 19th, 2011

  • Harrison's SAT test scores are much lower than those of similar schools: SAT scores

  • While Mamaroneck is Harrison's demographic twin ( Demographic Comparison ), we trail Mamaroneck in our Regents scores.

  • Harrison's low test scores identify the district as less competitive, thereby reducing college bound students' opportunities to gain admission to more competitive schools.

  • Meanwhile, we pay more per pupil than all but one of the districts designated by HCSD as comparable: Cost per Pupil.

  • Why might we be under-performing?
    • Other schools address all ability groups: Pathways to Excellence
    • When Harrison has a very large percentage of 8th graders take the 9th-grade Integrated Algebra Regents' exam, our overall success rate of 29.5% is far below that of Mamaroneck at 47%: Integrated Algebra

  • Also, a large number of un-prepared students take AP exams, leading to a high rate of failure: AP Results
